As you may recall, in Part I of the In the Dinah Zone series, Renée went undercover as a reporter for Queeries Mag to discover what exactly happens at the Dinah Shore weekend. And she found out.
In this new Part II, our intrepid star actually competes in the sexay Battle of the Lesbian Webseries - and hijinks ensue!
I have to say, this video is pretty hilarious - especially around the 3:19 mark. Enjoy the scantily clad ladies and dreams coming true! Kudos to the team at Queeries for putting this report together!!
We're headed into full Pride mode in Toronto - rainbow flags abound! So when the lovely ladies of the hilarious lesbian webseries B.J. Fletcher, Private Eye kindly invited us to join them at the Toronto Women's Bookstore for an evening of Pride-ful lesbian webseries action, we sloshed half our martinis out of our glasses with glee.
The evening of June 30, our star and co-creator, Renée Olbert, will be joining Fletcher's Regan Latimer and Lindy Zucker for a curated screening and Q&A panel where you can ask all of those inappropriate questions you've been aching to blurt out.
Honestly - is there a better way to celebrate Pride 2011 than to mosey on down to your favourite feminist bookstore for some lesbian web series hotness?? I think not.
Here are the details!
Venue: Toronto Women's Bookstore, 73 Harbord Street [Google Maps link] Time: 8pm Date: 30th June 2011 Tickets: $10
Advanced tickets are available from the Toronto Women's Bookstore - call 416 922 8744 for more info.
All proceeds from the event will go towards enabling both of our shows to continue production, so come on down and support your local lesbian webseries!
If you can't make it to Toronto, you can still take part in the event and submit your questions by tuning in to the livestream at http://www.livestream.com/facingout
Thanks to the hilarious ladies of OML for invited us to do Battle again this year! And for those of you heading to the Dinah, as all good lesbians should, be sure to come out and cheer on your favourite series (Us! It's us, right?) Check out OML's site for full Battle of the Lesbian Webseries details!
We hear that Theatre Nights were a big success - thanks so much to all who came out to watch hot girl-on-girl action on the big, big screen!
Since we couldn't be there in person, we decided to send a short intro instead. Featuring Renée. Speaking German. It's like she's a little more like Liz Lemon every single day.
So here's Renée's little hello to the Theatre Nights audience (click on the triangle at the bottom of the player for English subs!):
Thanks to Sandra Showtime of OML for the text & voice translation - and thanks to our DoP, Danny, and Renée's lovely assistant Lisa, Queen of the Cue Cards - for helping us make that 47 seconds of magic. It takes a village, people.
What do you think, German-speakers? Did Renée pull it off? She's hoping for a guest spot on Emma Stahl...
The Gay Games 2010 start today! Woooo! Get your runners on! Take your shirts off!
While we're sad not to be in Cologne in person to celebrate the best and brightest gays in sport, we're pretty thrilled that the lovely Bridget McManus will be hosting some hot livestreaming action from the Gay Games on AfterEllen.com.
Of course, just as a reminder - that's not all that's happening at the Gay Games! Behold!
We're super excited to be featured at One More Lesbian's Theatre Nights at the Gay Games - thanks to One More Lesbian for including us in their programme, along with these other fantastic lesbian web shows:
Woooo! The Gay Games 2010 are coming up in Cologne, Germany at the end of July and thanks to One More Lesbian, Seeking Simone is thrilled to be representing Canada in everyone's favourite sport - lesbian webseries!
Sadly, tickets to Cologne are prohibitively pricey and we couldn't actually fulfill Renée's dream of returning to the Motherland for what is essentially the Gay Olympics (or Rose's dream of competing in Gay Water Ballet - maybe next time, Rose).
But our show will be there, along with our kicky German subtitles of course, thanks to the lovely Anja from Kweens and OML's own wonderful COO Sandra Showtimewho translated Episode 5. Thanks so much to OML for including us!
If you're hanging in the Big Apple over Pride this year - and who isn't? - come on down and celebrate queer indie web series at the Out of the Box Web Series Festival!
Spend a fabulous evening sampling LGBTQ themed web series with cocktails, screenings and sassy talk back. Seeking Simone will be featured (yay!) along with:
While she was down south...ha ha...Renée was also a special red carpet correspondent for the official "home of stuff lesbians like", Grace the Spot - check out their Dinah coverage for Renée's interviews with a variety of fabulous queers!
And for you web series crossover fans, here's Renée interviewing some of the sports-metaphor-lovin' ladies of Autostraddle plus that super cute Nicole Pacent from Anyone But Me! Fantasies...coming...true...
After suffering hearing loss and waking up with someone's thong on her head, Renée returned home to Toronto...and then Rose came back from Cancun and made Renée hand over some photos!

This guy with the towels may never recover
Many thanks again to One More Lesbian for inviting Seeking Simone down to the Dinah - and to Grace the Spot for making Renée an honourary Grace for the weekend!
Sadly, our woman behind the blogging curtain (a.k.a. Rose) won't be there to witness the glory, as she'll be conducting her own lesbian experiments down in Cancun that weekend (she's researching how many Miami Vices it'll take for her wife to take her top off in the pool).
So for sexy Dinah updates, be sure to follow @ReneeOlbert and @SeekingSimone - and a little bird told me that Renée may also be doing a few celesbian interviews for one of our fave lesbian sites, Grace the Spot - so stay tuned!
We'll also be running a few fun polls throughout the week, just to put you all in the Dinah mood. It's just like being there! But quieter.
Many thanks to Shirin and the wonderful women of One More Lesbian for making our participation possible! Renée will see you at the Dinah!!
