Renee Interviews Olympia Dukakis for Queeries Mag!

Waaaaay back in 2012, the lovely folks at Queeries Mag asked Renée to interview the great and beautiful Olympica Dukakis about her starring role in the lesbian road trip romance Cloudburst, which was being shown at the Toronto Inside Out Film festival. Naturally, Renée said HELL YES!! Because...OLYMPIA DUKAKIS, YOU GUYS!

Now that Cloudburst is in the theatres (check your local listings, people!), Queeries has posted the interview (filmed and edited by none other than B.J. Fletcher, Private Eye's Regan Latimer) and it is pretty awesome. Enjoy!!

Renée also interviewed the film's writer and director, Thom Fitzgerald, about creating the film and filming lovely Nova Scotia.

New Year - New Post! FINALLY.

Oh, lovely people. HELLO.

You know, I remember researching other web shows when we first started out on this webseries journey and feeling very dismissive of shows that only did one or two seasons. "What is THEIR problem?" I would think, "those lazy sows! Get it together!"

Well, schadenfreude is a bitch. Because now, after two seasons, I GET IT! HA ha!

That said, here is the latest on the Simone front for you, our fabulous fans:

1. All of Seeking Simone is now available with Danish subtitles! Mange tak to the lovely MissHelene, who volunteered to whip out ten episodes of Danish subs in the midst of her busy university schedule. MissHelene - you are a rock star in many languages!! 
   
   Let's all go back to everyone's favourite line in Episode 1 and learn it all over again!
   
   


2. We are still working on ways to bring you more Simone (if only to provide an answer to Episode 2.5's cruel, cruel cliffhanger!) But we're not sure what form it'll take. Video? Audio? Skywriting? A graphic novel? We'll keep you posted. In the meantime, brush up on your Danish, why don't ya?


3. Happy New Year!! May 2013 be your gayest year yet!

We are always excited when there are more homos on the web - so naturally, when the good folks at new LGBT video site ISeeGayPeople.tv asked us to be part of their initial webseries offerings, the answer was a resounding YES!

They launched in May and you should really go check it out. They've got some of your old favourites, like Anyone But Me, and some hilarious new shows we're just discovering, like Lesbian Cops. It's fun, it's free and they're always adding more series. Films are coming next!

Plus, look at the snazzy banner they put together for our show! Oooooo!

Team Simone at the Inside Out LGBT Film Festival

Oh, kittens. Team Simone is STILL recovering from the fun and frolic of the Inside Out LGBT Film Festival! We were so thrilled to have our little webseries representin' as part of the Local Heroes program! Sadly, not all of us could be there to revel in the glory - but those who WERE there had a fabulous time!

In EVEN MORE GLAMOROUS NEWS, the fine folks at Queeries Mag were doing a passel of interviews at the festival and asked our very own Renée to interview the lovely, the legendary Olympia Dukakis who was there to promote her film Cloudburst! There's photographic evidence and everything!

JEALOUS? In a delightful webseries twist, the interview was filmed by none other than B.J. Fletcher, Private Eye's Regan Latimer. Keepin' it all in the family, as it were. The interview won't be posted until the film has its theatrical release this fall but don't worry - we'll keep you posted!

Seeking Simone at Inside Out Film Festival!

Well, we've been sitting on THIS news for a few weeks and now we can share it with you!

We're super thrilled to announce that our very own Seeking Simone will be screened at the Inside Out Film Festival in Toronto next month! Woooo! Champagne! Drag queens!! Queer film FTW!!

One of our Season 2 episodes will be screened as part of the Local Heroes program on Thursday, May 24th. You can get tickets started May 3rd, so mark your calendars. We're pretty excited about our film festival debut - it's an honour to be included in this festival, where so many of our favourite queer films have been presented. Yay gay!

Simone creators Renée and Rose will be chatting with the fine folks of A World of Progress Radio on their podcast Sunday, March 25th! Thanks to Perry McNeil, a.k.a. Momma Politico, for inviting us to join them this week.

Simone's Renée Olbert Nominated for Indie Intertube Awards! Wooo!

As if the Oscars weren't glamour enough this weekend!

We at Team Simone were thrilled when we got the word that Simone herself, the lovely Renée Olbert, was nominated for not one, but TWO Indie Intertube Awards! Wooo! Break out the party hats and also, the vodka!

Renée was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy for Seeking Simone (alongside such other comedic geniuses as - gasp! swoon! - Emma Caulfield from the hilarious Bandwagon).

AND she was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for Good People in Love. Kudos, Renée!! Such a talented young lady.

The Indie Intertube Awards nominations are chock full of webseries goodness (including several nods to one of our fellow Canadian LGBT webseries, the awesome Out With Dad) - and there are many amazing shows for you to check out.
